Change Management

We can assist you to put in place, review and evaluate change processes. We tailor our programs to suit your needs. We pride ourselves on our ability to involve all key stakeholders in change management processes. Our view is that lasting change comes about when key people are part of the decision-making and when everyone knows how the change will affect them. Open communication is the key.

Organisational Review

Do your organisational structures and your work roles match where you want to go? Organisational review helps you to better align where you want your business to go with the structures, plans and functions currently in place in your organisation. We can provide you with a report on the best and most practical way forward after reviewing your current position and learning from you where you want to go.

The forward plan needs to be built on the foundation of the past. We believe that knowing the history of the organisation and honouring it are vital. All key personnel should be aware of the past: why and how the organisation started, in order to be clear on how each can contribute to its evolving story. Our experience shows that conflict can arise when organisational history is disregarded or not appreciated.

Strategic Planning

Our experience is that in the absence of structures, personalities will dominate. Having a plan in place does not guarantee success in organisational life, but it certainly helps to have clear roles, goals and boundaries between staff, Board and stakeholders. We have more than 20 years experience of developing strategic plans and working with organisations to improve and evaluate existing plans.

Program Evaluation

Organisations need to know how best to use resources for success. Kate Dempsey & Associates specialises in program evaluation. As a part of our commitment to participatory action learning, we don't simply evaluate your project or program and hand you a report, we work with you so that educating your staff on program evaluation is a key component of the work.

Governance

We think of governance as a process, rather than a policy and procedures manual. We can help you with those too, but after writing the manual, the critical question is what next? We can help you work with the plans you have in place and uncover blockages to effective ongoing action.

Governance is a ‘buzz' word at the moment and Kate Dempsey & Associates has been assisting groups with governance related advice and training for 18 years. We know the subject inside and out: we know it is one thing to have a policy in place and another to see it enacted. We know having a value statement doesn't mean values are alive and well in the organisation. We have worked with organisations who have gone down the governance route and have become stuck. If you are stuck, we can help. We prefer to work alongside you as you negotiate these complex matters.

Research

We have extensive knowledge of, and experience in, qualitative research methodologies. We specialise in participatory action research. We can arrange and conduct focus groups, interviews, questionnaires, on-line surveys, reviews and evaluation of policies and programs.

Executive Coaching

Kate Dempsey is the member of staff who engages in executive coaching. Kate has a PhD in Psychology; she is well qualified to provide individual counselling, mentoring and support to your senior staff and Board members. Sometimes it is good to talk with someone who knows the ropes, can provide practical, non-judgemental support and is not caught up in the issues of your workplace. Executive coaching, supervision and mentoring are useful professional development tools.

Community Consultation

The consultancy has extensive experience of undertaking stakeholder consultation, public meetings, telephone surveys, focus groups, in depth interviews and the like for universities, local government and community managed groups. Recently the consultancy undertook several community consultations on the contentious issue of the growth in numbers of electronic poker machines in several local government areas.

Training and Teaching

Kate Dempsey & Associates provides professional development services tailored to your specific needs. We prepare training in consultation with you and never use ‘packaged' training modules. Kate is also in demand as a conference speaker, dinner guest speaker, staff trainer and teaches post graduate students in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the Master of Education at two universities in Melbourne.
